C...Don't make applesauce, make cooked apples.

Cut up the apples into small pieces and cook them. You might need to start with a little water or apple juice, just enough to keep the apples from burning or sticking. Cook the apples slowly till they are soft. Add a little or no sugar depending on the type of apples you are using. Also add cinnamon. These is so much yummier then applesauce. You can put it in jars and process the same as applesauce.

This was what my grandmother called applesauce. It is good, real good.Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10542418358891388917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4982495311070974364.post-63126531629291680042009-11-04T18:11:38.076-08:002009-11-04T18:11:38.076-08:00Sorry - we were applesauce folk growing up. Good memoried :) The only thing that rivaled it was corn time - we froze a lot of corn!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17020795967484850035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4982495311070974364.post-9706756423118818752009-11-03T22:28:21.284-08:002009-11-03T22:28:21.284-08:00There's always dried apples. You can do plain-dried, dip them in pineapple juice and then sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar and then dry them, you can make fruit leather, etc. Applesauce really is probably your easiest, though -- and I LOVED to cut a square of material and a length of ribbon or whatever and decorate the top of the jar and give them away as gifts. There is also one of our favorite uses for the apple pie filling: apple crisp! Mmmmmmm! :-)Melindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14268362421170169550noreply@blogger.com
