A perfect September wedding. Abby wanted to bring in the Fall colors since the leaves have not changed quite yet, and add an elegant and vintage flair to the marriage to her Military husband. SO! We decided to make our main color Navy and add bursts of orange-and it turned out gorgeous. We had it outside at a state park and thank goodness the weather was just dreamy. It was a challenge to do everything ourselves on location, but with a lot of helpers we made it work. It is always nice to see how a concept in my head actually turns out!
The menu at the Groom's request was a Thanksgiving-like dinner.
Turkey
Stuffing
Sweet Potato Souffle- My MIL's recipe
Candied Walnut-Dried Cranberry-Gorgonzola Salad
Rolls
Apple Cider
Apple and Pumpkin Pie
Apple Cider
Apple and Pumpkin Pie
And since the menu was so feast-like, I thought that a long table instead of individual ones would suit the event well. We made the navy runner and napkins, used white sheets for tablecloths, used family and thrift store china, and only rented the flatware, goblets, and chairs.
The floral pumpkin centerpieces we made were vibrant and added the perfect pop of color.
The pears were a fun idea that I had to put on each place setting and I think they were my favorite detail.
The flowers for the whole wedding cost a whopping $70 at Pike Place Market. You should have seen the loads of bouquets we brought home. It's worth getting married in Seattle just for that. My cousin Katherine flew up from Oklahoma as the Maid of Honor and helped arrange them all (she was a particularly excellent pumpkin cutter and I wonder if she is for hire at Halloween;)
My mom made the cake which turned out lovely.
For the take-home gifts we made caramel apples that said "apple of my eye"
Brianna made a super cute flower girl
My brother and sister played and sang their song (I have some seriously talented siblings)
For the guest book we used chalkboards for messages to be written.
love'n his un-tucked shirt and hair
It was the perfect "Falling" for You Day!
Congrats to my sister and her new husband!
Thanks so much to my SIL Helen, My Cousin Katherine, my MIL Annette, and well...all those helping hands;)
