Valentine's Day was a special event at our house. Kai still talks about it every day and cuts out hearts and puts love notes in our jars. I DID try to make it special (regardless of my feelings about the commercialism)...so you can't blame the kid for loving it all.
Rowdy and I don't really care to go out or buy each other anything, so I opted for a candlelit dinner with the family. I brought out the nice tablecloth and napkins and candles and made Carbonara (my recipe is way better than any restaurant). Rowdy brought home some Krispy Kreme donuts for dessert and we spent the evening reading our love notes to each other and really...it was a happy night.
But last night I was absolutely certain what a sweet impact it made on my little man. He asked me to come see what he had drawn and he had written a picture story on HOW TO send a Valentine's to someone--so clever!
Translation:
1 Make a Heart
2 Put it in the mailbox
3 The person gets the mail
4 He has the heart
5 He takes the heart home
6 He puts it on his wall
7 He calls to thank his friend
8 They both say Bye
That is so sweet! You have to treasure those little drawings and that little heart :-D

I'm not a big Valentine Day celebrator, either, but the picture was adorable.
