Nothing else to do...

but show you random pictures of what I am working on. Oh this is embarrassing to show something not fabulous--yet. But I need help.

The office. Needs a ton of work. But here it is so far with a blah wall color and our desk and some bookshelves and "oh! our blog on the screen (you should read it)" and stuff. The color is off a bit because the sun is setting.
So my question to you is..what color should I paint the walls? It can't be a blue because then it competes with the aqua-ness of the painting. But will a green work? Or should I be boring and go with a taupe? The thing is--I LOVE this painting. It's an orginal by Dan Dunn. I found it at a garage sale for 5 bucks. Guess how much this guys paintings go for? $2,500-$3,500. Ya. I'm good.
The other side of the office will have an ivory loveseat and another dark brown tall ladder bookshelf for pictures and stuff. And here is some more stuff on the floor. Random and yet oh-so-cute in the right place. I have a ton of cool patterned pillows with color that will go on the couch--so again--I am struggling with what would work in here.

k--what are your thoughts? I am stuck. I was so sure about a green--but now the painting has me questioning...

I think you should do a creamy light yellow. I like that color with brown and blue and green if you're going to use it. Plus it would look great with your painting and yellow always makes people seem happier. :)

I would go to Home Depot. They have all kinds of color booklets with different color schemes for different rooms. I love them. Most paint brands usually have some type of free pamphlet you can take with ideas.

I think a green would just cause the painting to disappear into the wall, you know?
You'd have to do something that would contrast but compliment. Probably the brown/yellow/orange family. Color booklets might be a good idea . . .

I was actually thinking a green. A darker shade of green, but still nice. I was also thinking brown. Turquoise and brown go really well together.

Do you ever go crazy? Like a really cool dark burnt orange or something? To contrast with the painting (love it too BTW). I know, I'm crazy...I just love trying out bold colors.

I think you've got some good suggestions--i don't have anything better for you, but I do want to say that I love the painting AND I love the map of Italy. :) But that is without question from me, right?

I am a fan of Benjamin Moore, myself. I love their color palate and - if all else fails - go for their Pottery Barn colors. Tried, true and terrific.

I've seen some fabulous grays lately. Not dark, dreary and dingy. Just deep, rich and quite masculine. Check it out. It just might be the answer for your study.
