learning to put the toilet seat UP

me....walking by the bathroom where the door is open...I glance over and then yell...

"Hey Rowdy!  I figured out why I can't seem to keep our toilet free from you know what.  Kai is standing up while going to the bathroom.  No wonder it is always a mess!  Did you teach him that?"

"Yep."

"WHY did you teach him to stand up when he goes to the bathroom?"

"Because he's a man-child.  And that is what a man and man-child does."

"But he is not a man!"

"I said man-child, Carrie."

"Whatever.  I don't like it and I would prefer it if you could AT LEAST teach him to put the seat up beforehand and down after."

"Come on...let's not complicate things for my little boy."

I predict Hubby and I will have this EXACT conversation in about 3 years from now.

(When people ask the sex of our baby, Hubby says: it's a man-child.)

Not touching this one. But you have to consider that you have at least a 50% chance of being wrong and he has a 50% chance of being right.

Seriously, I have 4 boys. Let me tell you what my wife and I do. We have a spray bottle we keep in each bathroom. It's filled with 3 parts bleach and 1 part water. Every few days or so, we spray liberally around the toilet. Then, we shut the door and run. A day or two later, the fumes have cleared and we go in, wipe quickly with some tissue and flush. Voila! All clean.

I think I've had this very same convo with Joe regarding our man-child Dee. haha

Wow, heard all that before!!! I was surprised at how adamant my husband was about teaching that, despite my attempts to influence the habit. So interesting - and so frustrating!

I think it is pretty universal that there will be mention of "don't cross the streams." I think that is the primary reason fathers teach there sons about standing. To quote Ghostbusters. I try to ignore the existence of my boys' bathroom.
