Girls on the Run

There is a really great program called Girls on the Run that Brianna participated in this fall.  She had practice 2x a week after school with a 5k at the very end!

The program's mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
(They are located nationwide for girls in 3rd-5th grade)

I pushed myself through the finish line crowds so I could have a good view.  I thought I was being really smart by staying at the very end, but after awhile I thought that her group might have had to start later since there were so many girls ahead.  So even with good time, she would finish later.

As I pushed myself towards the coach she said, "Oh!  Brianna finished awhile ago!"

WHAT?

I ran to find her in the after party area but could not see her.  I was just about in tears that I had missed her finish.  Then I saw her with her running buddy with hair down and RED hairspray.  They were nice enough to re-create the act at the finish line for me so I could get a picture!

Brianna was fast (of course) and her adult running buddy had to keep up.  We are so proud of her!

What an outstanding program. My girl loves to run. I would love for her to do something like this when she's old enough.

She looks so cute. I will have to check my area to see if they have something like that here.

That is so awesome! Amazing what a little passion and entrepreneurial spirit can turn into, huh?

Way to go, girl! What a neat program. Running is hard! But I can't wait to get started doing it again. (I got a jogging stroller for CHEAP at a garage sale!)
