Can you do me a favor? Can you pretend that I am NOT a photographer and these pictures are really good for someone who is NOT a photographer? Hello small apartment, and gray Seattle days, and zero good natural light.
It is actually really pretty in person.
I have a lot of colorful books, so I kept the red and green ones out for an easy pop of color.
I wanted to use what I have (aka buy nothing this year), and since our tree is smaller than I am used to, I had an excess of Christmas balls and beads that needed to go somewhere. I grabbed all my clear vases, jars, and cake stands and sparkled the place up with them.
My colors are obviously...very colorful. I decided to go with this theme a few years ago because 1) my house already has much of the same theme and it would be easy to incorporate my stuff 2) it is child-like, which is the very stage our family is in right now.
I am loving the strings of beads piled on this cake stand. And books with titles using the words Winter and December sit nearby.
These darling Matryoshka doll Santas are so fun!

Looks fantastic! I love all the colorful bulbs.
How do you keep your kids from getting into your decorations??? Looks fab!
I hope those Louisa May Alcott books are just for decoration... and that you have thoroughly enjoyed them! If not, send them along to me!
That plate of beads looks like catastrophe waiting to happen...but that might just be my house. I loved the wreath with the bright balls! And the book titles. My aunt and mom have that same book collection and I am dying to inherit them! Chartruses green and all.
It looks like it's come right out of a magazine. Utterly fabulous ideas!
Thanks ladies! The balls within my kiddos reach are plastic (you can't even tell!). Also, if I had a toddler, this would be an entirely different situation of decorating.
I think it looks great. My kids would be all over the balls. That's why we don't have them. But maybe if I had them, they wouldn't be all over them. Huh.
Well, I think your pictures look great. Are you a professional photographer? If not, you should be. (How was that?)
That is absolutely gorgeous! Great flair!
I'm impressed. I need to have you come here and decorate for me. K?
Just found your blog! Very fun!
We've got the same issues with gray days up here in Vancouver. Blah. Your photography still looks amazing!
Please don't come to my house! This is GORGEOUS!!! I can't wait to have lived long enough with children to have ornaments to fill my tree with memories like that one. SO. FUN!
Good stuff here. Wishing you an enjoyable holiday season.
I think all your Christmas decor looks beautiful!
I love how you used your colorful books also.
My color palette for Christmas also has alot of jewel colors and I love it!
I love your christmas decor and pictures each year, it puts me in the festive mood, and then I look up at my own house...
oh ya... I don't live in my computer.
but I like my things, they are lame, not an ounce of class here during the holidays. but I'm embracing it, as you would know if you had seen me on friday sporting some gold jingle bell earrings with plaid bows at the top. if only I could find a sweater to match! :)
I love your photos! they are awesome, even for a real photographer, no pretending needed!
I am my mother. well no, her stuff is actually pretty awesome.
that comment seemed kinda weird at the end. it's because I inserted the bit about your awesome photography at the wrong place, thinking it was the end...
I'm a smarty. :)
