I run.

I have started to train for a 1/2 marathon in November. So far...I am up to 2 miles.

It is so hard.

It might be a tad easier without this horrendous southern humidity, but overall for me, this is a very big deal.

I used to run a lot, but the most I have ever done is a 5k or 3 miles. I am now attempting 13 miles. Without having lost all my weight. And I am starting at the very beginning. And I am feeling every inch of it my friends.
What makes it even more difficult for me is that I have plantar fasciitis on my right foot, not to mention horrible shin splints. So basically, I have to take tylenol 30 minutes before I go just so I can bare through the pain. And bare I do.

I have gone running twice now and plan to add another 1/2 mile every week, running 3-4 days a week. In between my running days I am doing the 30 day shred video, which is seriously fantastic folks.

Anyone want to join me in this endeavor? I bet there's a half marathon in your neck of the woods too.

We can cry together! And then kick some ______!

Love the 30-Day Shred.

I did this running program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml. Which made it really easy until I stopped for no reason. Good luck. It sounds so painful so that makes it even that much more impressive when you do the half marathon.

Way to go!! You are such a WOMAN!! I started running about a year ago, and have run 3 5Ks now. I'm just working on decreasing my time - maybe later I'll be as adventurous as you!! I think you're awesome.

Impressive. You know what else might be fun for you? A sprint triathlon...a swim 1/2 mile+, bike ride 15ish miles, and ends with a 5k. Derek used to do them when he could train...kind of...at the Y for the swim.

I hate the humidity...it takes all my energy, and I don't have the other issues you do.

Good for you. Keep us updated on your progress!
(and no, I don't want to do it with you!)

Oh, girl - I FEEL for you. I was training for a half when I found out I was expecting Ashton and it was one of the hardest things I've EVER done. I am now attempting to do something similar (once I get my 6 week clearance from my doctor) with the end goal being a nearly 200 mile relay race I'd be running next June (the Wasatch Back). I'm shooting for a 5K in October and maybe a 10K in November/December. So, we'll be training, hurting and sweating together!

We are women. Hear us ROAR!!!

Wow--you're brave, girl! A half Marathon. That's HUGE! I've run a couple 5k's but nothing like that. I'm not an expert, but one tips I always tell people is GET THE RIGHT SHOES! Especially if you have any sort of pain going on. The right shoes can make ALL the difference. I'd go to an actually running store and have your feet/gait analyzed so you can get the right support. Maybe you already have and I sounds silly for being all "here's a tip"....

Okay, this comments getting too long! Anyhow, keep us updated on your progress--you're amazing!

Keep it up, that's great! I used to wrap my shins it helped a lot, and I would run on something that had some 'give' (grass or a track) that usually helped my shin splints.
