Oh, Boy! Baby Shower

_DSC0017

I planned a baby shower for a gal I hardly know at church, but I am so glad I did because I know she appreciated it (she is new to the area like me). I strayed from the usual and really wanted to do something a bit more boy-ish. I woke up one night (seriously!) and knew that I had to do a sports theme. But not your basic one, instead I wanted to create the food and fun around "going" to the game. I had some great items on hand in my future-party-stash, so it was all pretty cost effective.

Food:
  • Soft Pretzels with Mustard
  • Sports Theme Cupcakes
  • Caramel Corn
  • Soda Pop
  • Water Bottles
Decorations:
  • Ice cooler
  • Red and blue balloons and streamers
  • Baseballs
  • Windmills
  • Popcorn bags
  • Hot dog baskets with liners
Activities:
I made tickets with a different section, row, and seat number for each guest. When that ticket was announced, they had the opportunity to shoot some balls into a basketball-type mesh setup (thank you Jen for letting me borrow it!) - 10 balls in the hoop within 30 seconds.
The winners received some silly prizes...

Prizes:

  • Oh Boy! Oberto Beef Jerkey
  • whoopie cushions
  • velcro catch balls
  • go-fish magnet game
  • bagged cotton candy

*Note* These pictures are perhaps some of the worst I have taken in a long time. The party was not held at my house, and having never been there before, the set-up and light that I had to work with was not ideal.

I have been itching to use these popcorn bags for ages.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times I have used these baseballs as decor. I loved that I could just grab them off my shelf!

I was in love with these at first site last year when I found them on sale at World Market. I needed a few more, (they are in a pack of 6, red and yellow), so thankfully they had them in stock again (but ugh, not on sale). The cutest red and white checked liner comes separately.
Overall, I think it was very "Oh, Boy!"

Oh crumb. If you think these are bad...:P

Great idea!! I get so sick of the typical boring baby shower. I bet your guests had a fab time!

PS Thanks for entering the giveaway! Good luck!
