Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend {We're Engaged!}

My son said that Rowdy and I should get married.

Let me tell you WHY he said that.

Hopefully I can get through it without bawling and jumping up and down like a 19 year old.  Because ladies and gentlemen, it is a GOOD story.

***

When we got engaged Rowdy did not have a ring.  I didn't really care, but it was always something he wished had happened differently and he has always said that he wanted to upgrade my ring at our 10 year wedding anniversary.  But I loved my sweet 1/3 carat.  It was simple and we were dirt poor and I loved it. I didn't need an upgrade--so as our 10th anniversary passed this August...I never thought anything of it.

***

For the past few months Rowdy has been acting really really really weird.  Annoying weird, in fact.  "Don't check my emails," he said.  "Don't look at my text messages," he said.  I don't do those things anyway, but I love surprises, so I said I wouldn't and stuck true to my word.

And then there were little moments like when I was in a really crabby mean mood and my last huffing sentence of attitude was followed up with him saying, "You are going to be really sorry you said that, Carrie."  WHATEVER.

Then my wedding ring band cracked and it needed a good cleaning, so Rowdy was kind enough to take it somewhere for me.  It took a really long time to get cleaned.  I was like, "Wuz-up with that?"  and he followed with a "Wuz-up up with your attitude?"  ...so I left it alone and decided to not complain about it anymore until we got home from our vacation.  I'm super sweet like that.

***

We decided to plan a trip to Disney World while on our vacation to visit family in Georgia/Florida.  We high-tailed it down to Orlando from Atlanta after our plane landed and after a few family stop-overs we were in a "magical place."

But still, Rowdy was acting weird.  Always looking over his shoulder in a "I'm going to protect my lap-top case and don't look in my pockets" sort of way.  I didn't notice it at the time, but it was definitely weird;)  I am sure of it.

Then my little family + my in-laws wandered inside the Magic Kingdom for a day of fun and slowly passed the Cinderella castle on our way to some rides.

(...I am bubbling with anticipation here just writing this...)

My sister-in-law said she wanted a picture by the wishing well next to the castle.  I wasn't really in the mood to go that way, but we all wandered over to look inside the well.  Suddenly Rowdy said, "What would you wish for Carrie?" as I glanced into the well.

And then just like a fairytale

he got down on one knee...

And opened a ring box with a gorgeous BIG diamond ring...

And asked me to marry him all over again...

Wanna know my answer?

...I said YES.

***

He designed it so that my original diamond was included and both our wedding bands were melted down to create the new band... and then..uhm...he added some serious bling!

The inside inscription says a simple {heart} Rowdy

I think I will for sure marry him, all over again.

I really can't believe the time and effort that went into this secret, and my goodness I can't thank my guy enough. Seriously, I am one lucky gal.

PS. I'd like to thank my sister-in-law Carmella for modeling my ring for me.  My nails will never look that good.

PPS. The jeweler is phenomenal and Rowdy was able to create the ring step-by-step with him.  Steve Milner of No Ka Oi Hawaiian Jewelry in Tacoma, Wa can be emailed at nokaoihj@comcast.net or call 253-568-2621. (I just HAD to give him a plug-in because his work is obviously awesome!)

How stinking SWEET is that? I am saying this with much jealousy. Cause right now I am mad my hunny and wondering why I love him. can I send him your way so your hubby could teach him a trick or two? I am happy for you. What a wonderful way to bring some excitement and reassurance to your marriage.

I LOVE it!!! So fun! We had a lot of crazy things happening when we got engaged, and Dave never actually proposed. Maybe I'll have to leave your post open to maybe plant a little idea in his head!!! Hahahahaha -- that is SO sweet! You'll never forget your princess story!
