Turning 30 and what to do about it

I'm turning 30 in 1-2-3-4-FIVE days.  April 4th.  I'm not happy about it.  But I need to be.  So I need to do something.  Quick.

Not knowing how to make this age amazing,  I would like to ask you how to make it rock.  Why should turning 30 be awesome?  Why IS it awesome?  What should I expect?  How should I feel?  What should I do? What-Why-How?

So...would you mind commenting away?  Let's see if we can break a record and get at least 30 comments/ideas.  My optimism depends on it.

Thank ya.

...I would be lying if I said I wasn't tearing up right now...

I think you should have a totally awesome party! Whether it is just you and your family, or you invite others for a pot luck, It should be something that shouts "special" to you. After all, turning thirty is amazing!! I am 51 and I have to tell you that life only gets better every year. My spirituality, my patience, my love all grow year by year. Have an amazing birthday!!

Thirty was the hardest age for me but Oh how great the "Thirty's" are!!
I loved the thirties because you are no longer a kid, you've found yourself, gotten a good start on your life and the thirties is all about being a strong confident mom, wife and woman!!! It is a great time in life so embrace it - "Embrace 30!"
However you celebrate do it with a smile and do it grand!!

I so wish I could help, but I'm almost in the same boat. I'll be twenty-nine in just over a month.
Yipes.
Not ready for 30.
Especially because my husband is a year and a half younger than me. He's going to make fun of me.
Not ready for that either.

P.S. I SO want your party ideas!!!! You've got my email, right? Lay it on me, I want to make this an event!!... even though I'm bad at entertaining.

30 wasn't a big deal for me. Actually, no birthday is. It's not like you can control it. It's not like you have to behave any differently. Embrace it. Love it. Getting older is awesome! I mean, right? Have a rocking party!!

RESPECT. Whether someone is 65 or 25, there seems to be more respect when you are out of your twenties.

In ten years you'll wonder why you were so concerned about turning 30.

Well funny you should ask, I am 30 today. 30 on 30! Golden b-day!!
I was afraid but today has been wonderful. I would suggest pampering yourself that day. I went and got a body wrap at a local spa and it was heaven!!! Embrace who you are and the person you have become! Things can only get better!

Once I turned 30 I felt great. I was finally at the beginning of the age group. The youngest of all the thirty-somethings. 29 felt so ancient compared to the other twenty-somethings. So now I'm 33 looking at you thinking how lucky you are to be one of the babies at the beginning of her 30s. Cheers!

I went through the same thing last year and when it was over I didn't know why I stressed so much. Go enjoy it and look forward to other things. Have a happy 30th.

April of 1981 was a good month. Cause you were born, and then three weeks later, I was born! My birthday is the 27th... Sometimes I think about what it will feel like to be 30... I don't know. I am definitely more confident, more happy in my own (stretched out)skin now than I was ten years ago. I like the experience that life has given me so far. I say, bring it on 30!

If only we could have a party together...

30...I don't even remember that birthday. Oh yes I do. It was a terrible time for me. But things always get better. I just turned 35 and I'm cool with that. I'm not sure how 40 will go, though. Sometimes I still think I'm in my early 20s and doing whatever I feel like whenever I feel like doing it. Yeah. Things are different now.

Happy Birthday!

I was with a group of women once, all over 30 but me, and they were talking about how the 30s rock. They said they were hands down their favorite time. If I'm not pregnant, I want to hike the Grand Canyon for my 30th, next year!

It was the same as every birthday.. I just have to realize I am getting a bit older and I need to be content with it. Happy early Birthday!!!

I never have cared about my age, one way or the other. It's just a number, after all.

So my advice is this: Just live life. Don't count it.

I wouldn't know, but I heard 30's are the new 20's ?

I think you should watch "13 going on 30" for your Birthday. The main character explains why 30 is awesome in the beginning of the movie. So... wait... hmmm... now I'm thinking that maybe you should have a reverse 13 going on 30 party. You'd call it "30 going on 13." Picture this: The party would involve you getting magic dust, and then making a wish to be 13 again. Then you'd wake up to Miah and Will jumping all over you, as preteen boys normally do, and me (you're glorious sister) putting on your makeup without permission. After being transported into such a traumatizing scene, you realize the age you really are is WONDERFUL, and then you run into a closet and say "I wish I was 30 again...I wish I was 30 again... I wish I was 30 again..." Then POOF you're back with your loving husband and two beautiful children. The ending of this vision is you living up your 30th birthday and possibly dancing to Thriller... See? Best. idea. ever. :P But for real, I hope you have a good day. You've earned it! Love you, sis!

30'S are the best! Can't explain why, but when you hit almost 40 like me you will know why. Have a fantastic birthday!

I loved my 30's..and you know what? 40's ain't so bad either! As far as I can tell, anyway. I'm 41 - so just a bit into it.

It's just a number. It's the attitude you sport that makes it rock or not.

start doing the things you always said "I want to do..." I ran 2 half marathons this year and it made me feel so much better about my life to have checked something off. p.s. annette is right.

I spent my 30th in bed sick and missed my baby's shower. I agree with Annette and Sue. They both had great advise. Remember the best part is you get to choose what you make of it. If you want it to miserable it will be miserable. If you want to be happy, you will be happy. Trials will come but attitude is what can make or break anything even your 30th b-day!

I have loved my 30's so far. I am deep into them being 31 and all.

I feel being more comfortable in your own skin is the best way to rock the 30's. Being your own best friend, saying kind words in the mirror, loving your body and face and hair and everything in between, and just enjoying the days.

It is going to look great on you!

I have loved being in my thirties. (Your MIL is right, BTW).

Even when I was a teenager or young 20's I thought early thirties was when women really become the most beautiful.

okay, well 30 is TOTALLY the new 20. and i feel like, even though i'm in my 30's i don't look like i am (at least that's what i tell myself!!) and i definitely don't feel like i am!
there is a definite sweet self awareness that comes with getting older that i love, love, love! more patience, more "OH! i get it!" moments. more love and learning and ha, ha, sex! don't worry about it, i'm sure you'll rock it! thirty, flirty, and thriving!

So, I'm actually younger than you are, so I can't say much about what it's like being 30, but I can tell you that with this new batch of eye wrinkles, I'm looking older than 30! You look young, so age doesn't matter!

My friend took it as a start-over on her life. So she thought of all the things she wanted to be and made 30 her year to start them. Places she wanted to travel - went the first place during her 30th year. Goals she wanted to achieve - check. She also interviewed women she wanted to be like and made a list of things she needed to do to have or be what she saw in them that she wanted to have/be.

I also think that 30 is the new 20 - so you just left your teenage years and the sky's the limit!!!! And I wanted to give you ONE MORE COMMENT towards your goal. If you count the sex observation from your mother-in-law, you're only two comments away!

I think my hubby was suddenly sexier when he turned 30. Honest! And sexier is always nice. :D

P.S. I just had to leave you another comment and be the cool person to leave comment number 30.

Cause I'm selfish like that.
