Not a big oyster fan, but I have to admit those look yummy!

Would the same recipe work for calamari??

I bet you it would! The trick is actually to not use anything wet before the breading. Simply leave it in the breading=flour+spices for about 30 minutes and it will automatically form a thick crust without doing a milk/egg wash.
