Pain and Witchy Ice Cream

 YES!

I wanted to cry last night.  I had pinched a nerve first in my neck and then in my lower back and it was seriously complete agony. And I was crampy.

Then I said 2 things. "Spike is whining because I forgot to buy the dog food.  Do you think he can survive on bread another night?  I mean, is he going to starve to death?"  And then right after... "You know what I haven't had in forever?  Mint chocolate chip ice cream.  That has to be some kind of sin to go without it for so long."

Rowdy looked at me and then asked, "Does that mean you want me to go the store and get it for you? I'm really tired..."  I didn't like his attitude so I sad "NO!"

Then I wanted to cry again because I hurt so bad. I needed a heating pad and I didn't have one and gosh darn it I was going to have to do everything myself.

So without anyone knowing I grabbed my purse and keys and stomped out of there with pain in every step.  I had blue sweats with a t-shirt on and my long brown puffy coat and flip-flops.  As I sat in the car about to turn the ignition on I got a call from Rowdy that I should just come home and how was I going to lift that big bag of dog food?  I hung up on him.  Then I got a call from Kai saying, "Mommy please come home! I miss you!" with a shuffle and then a "there dad I said it!" and it hung up.

But I started the car up anyway and zoomed out of there.  I got about a block before I had to stop from the pain.  I really didn't have any idea how I was going to lift a huge bag of dog food. So I pulled the car back in and marched back inside and kicked off my flip-flops in complete agony and began pouring rice into a sock to make into a homemade heating pad.

Basically, the night sucked.  It's funny how pain can make you do crazy things. I was feeling like quite the witch.

Hopefully today I will be nice and a bit more sane even though the pain is still excruciating. I just need to focus on the sun and the gorgeous changing colors and remember that pain is usually temporary and that I can push through it.

And one more thing...I think mint chocolate chip ice cream could heal the world.

Oh, Carrie, I'm so sorry about the pinched nerves! They hurt like the dickens {{and that's putting it nicely}}.

Hopefully some mint ice cream and R&R will help.

And I totally agree that pain makes us do funny things. The one and only time I ever yelled at my husband was when I burned my hand He was trying to help but I was in so much pain I yelled at him to go away and leave me alone. I still feel terrible about it 14 years later!

I do hope you feel better today. Two liter soda bottles work well filled with hot water too !

I'd hug you, but it would probably hurt worse. And plus I'm a couple thousand miles away. Heart.

Pinched nerves are the worst! I think a heating pad, ibuprofen, hot chocolate (your husband's delicious stuff) and mint chocolate chip ice cream could fix it though!

Have you tried doing any stretches or yoga-type poses? It seems like it would help (in theory). However, I remember how it feels and I can barely move!

You should have called me. I would totally get it for you. Of course it would take about 2 days to get there, but for you, I would do it.

I can't tell you how often I think "I'll show them" and storm off to do something I didn't want to do only to realizing I am only spiting myself.
