Back-to-school shopping

Regretting my last post would be an understatement, but I am so thankful for the feedback/thoughts...even if I sounded a bit whiny;)

On to today's frustration which will hopefully lead to a happy place once I have vented.

Back-to-school shopping for clothes.

So there I was.  Grabbing my wrinkle spray from the laundry aisle at Target (I do NOT iron) when I happened to pass the toddler section of clothing.  I gasped.  Oh how lovely they all were!  I am such a sucker for fall clothes.  Fall clothes for little girls send me over the edge.

In fact, I am so protective of such fabulous fall girl clothes that I give Brianna's clothes to my dear friend instead of selling them on ebay like my son's every year.  That way I can visually see them live on.  I get giddy when I see them on her girls. Like...caress the screen when I look at them in pictures on her blog.  That's how in love I am. I'm gonna start crying for joy just thinking about it. I know.  I know.  CA-RAZY. But no joke, my friend and I do a happy dance during the exchange every year. Handing gorgeous clothing down to lovely ladies who appreciate such beauty is what life is all about, no?

Can you blame me?  My baby has such style.

And this outfit.  A Brianna classic.

And wouldn't YOU cry happy tears if you saw your daughter's old clothes being worn by such lovelies?  Those boots.  They were sinfully delish to gaze upon. I should see if my friend still has them.  Maybe a shrine in my dining room?

Back to what this post is all about---sadly, since I no longer HAVE a little girl, I must move on to her a-bit-more-grown-up section.  FOR SURE there would be 'although different in style' clothing similar enough to the darling colors and designs I just saw in the 5t and under section.

But no sireeee. We are not so lucky these days because apparently when your daughter has to go to THAT section THESE are now your choices.

Can someone please pass the Nutella? I need something to recuperate from my demise.

I shook my head in sadness.  And then grabbed a candy bar and checked out with my wrinkle spray. I couldn't even bare to look back at my back-to-school choices. I needed to think.  To clear my head.  To regain some semblance of composure.

What the CRAP is a mom to do?

(Sorry Kristie.  I can't promise a good crop next year...)

It's so true. But seriously even some of the little girls clothes these days make them look like Lady Gaga or a streetwalker.
Clothes for girls are not what they used to be.
I was shopping with my oldest daughter yesterday. We were in Macy's and she wanted to find a dress. I finally asked the saleslady if there were any junior dresses. She looked at me like I was not from this planet. She said you mean like...for prom?
They can't even imagine that a girl might like to wear a dress to a job, to church. Seriously.
Good luck with the shopping.

BTW those pictures are adorable - I miss the cute little girl clothes too!

I am so with you! We have spent hours and hours and I can only rumple my nose in disgust! I was going to post the exact same sentiments. What can we do? I've even been to the outlets in North Bend! My poor daughter has nothing - but I must admit that I am just glad that she doesn't like the stuff that is out there either (though I know that day will ultimately come when we disagree on her fashion... well, hopefully not!). Good luck!

I was frustrated this year too, buying clothes for my six year old. What's with all the glam rock grunge stuff? She's SIX!!! I found some cute stuff at OshKosh this year... it's a little sweeter than what I saw at Target, or even at Children's Place. It's hard to find dresses though, and usually it seems the ones that are out there cost an arm and half of your right leg.

Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight. Ohhhh, back to school. Back to school. Back to school. Well, here goes nothing.

Adorable clothes! I am not looking forward to the day when I can't shop in the little boys' section for clothes. I really don't want my kid to look like some kind of little gangsta.

Oh wow! Dang cute!
And yes, styles do seems to get worse as they get older.

I could never write a cute post like this.

All my kids live in hand-me-downs.

This was by far the worst year for buying clothes. We looked in several stores and could find nothing for my eight-year-old that didn't look like some throw back to eighties rock bands. We just kept leaving more and more of our regular school shopping stores empty handed. Luckily she has enough hand me downs that we were able to get by on the meager pickings we finally found at the mall.

Jeigh is headed into the girls section too and I almost puked when all I could find was a Hannah Montana/Disney Princess plague. I still haven't figured out that to do!
