I asked Rowdy today if he would be okay with it.
He nodded and then went to stir his red beans and rice.
Still not sure what that means?
But it's happening. A delicious spread of pies and plates and forks and friends. Now...just to figure out which field of loveliness to have it at. It's going to be chilly, I am sure. But pies and scarves and autumn leaves and maybe some hot chocolate? Or should I do apple cider?
I already have the table decor in my head.
Did I mention that my pecan pie is TO DIE FOR?
Case and point: Once upon a time I helped my MIL with her yearly real estate party (which hasn't happened since I moved away, I might add;) We decided on an old fashioned Christmas theme that year with turkey and dressing and carolers and peach cobbler. Then three days before the grand event as we were chatting about the details I mentioned how we should figure out which peach cobbler recipe to use. Then she took off her glasses, smiled sweetly as she batted her eyes and said,
"Carrie...you make the best pecan pie I have ever tasted."
"Carrie...you make the best pecan pie I have ever tasted."
Holy pecans.
"OH, noooooooooo," I said.
13 pies in one evening later...
I have forgiven her.
..........Off to plan.........
Who's with me, now?

I wish I could be there to join you! You make delicious food! I still think you brought us the best dinner EVER, after we had Addison!
I'm sure your pie party will be a big hit!
I'm with you! Oh, wait....
Too bad I don't live closer or I would be there in a heart beat. We tried your brownies yesterday. Boy are they sweet! My boys loved them. Next time I make them I have to do a better job of incorporating the cream cheese swirl. It kind of took over the top and formed a sugar coated top. I was surprised by how little butter was used, but yet they were extremely moist.
I can vouch for the best pecan pie in the world part. Still salivating whenever I think about it. I am totally coming! These other people with their paltry distance excuses for not being there. I would travel across the country for it!
okay, I would probably run into a little trouble passing that expense through congress (ryan), but I would try!! :) can't wait!
I'll bring my apple pie. It makes me the best wife in the ward everytime we serve it to church friends. Magic powers I tell you.
The thing I love about your parties is they are so simple and so elegant all at the same time. Can't wait to see the table decor!
You're parties sound like so much fun. Pie party in fall? Perfect!
