What the Nutella?

FYI.  There is a glorious day called World Nutella Day.  After learning of this fact and ceasing my uncontrollable sobs of joy, I decided to share my new found knowledge with you because it is indeed a day worth celebrating.  Nutella lovers unite!

Forget Thanksgiving.  February 5th, hurry up!

To get yourself ready...

Have you joined the facebook fan page?

Have you bought your Nutella jewelry?

"When in Rome Tours is proud to launch its new line of 'Nutella Chic' jewelry. Not only is it fabulous and stylish, it is hand made, one of a kind, bears the colors of the tricolore Italian flag, and last but not least, there is one ounce of perfectly edible nutella inside.  Should you ever get caught in a storm or stuck on a train, have no fear-Nutella is here!"

Rowdy decided to be incredibly cool and crack and roast a zillion hazelnuts for me to make my own chocolate-hazelnut spread at home.  Here's the recipe we used, and I gotta tell ya, it's a mighty fine piece of work.

Homemade Nutella

2 cups toasted hazelnuts with skins removed
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup good quality unsweetened cocoa powder (don't skimp with generic stuff here)
1 tsp vanilla
1/4-1/2 cup coconut oil (or nut oil)

Blend the hazelnuts in a high powered blender or food processor.  Scrape the bowl down between pulsing in order to get a fine grain (should stick together like a thick paste).  Add the sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and oil.  Process until smooth.  You might have to play with the oil content to get the desired consistency.

It's banana nutella won-tons tonight.  Don't be jealous.  Well, okay...do.

Homemade Nutella - Hhhmmmm could be a keeper!
We have taken a few trips to Europe over the years and I have to say that having Nutella as part of breakfast everyday there is definately a treat. They eat it like we eat jam on toast - but for some reason when I come home I cannot justify having it every morning - I'm weird. It really can become addicting. Yum!

A whole day just for nutella?! That is the most glorious thing I have ever heard.

Last week, I had TWO friends that didn't know what nutella was. And so, I stood and bore my testimony of it's goodness. And they were happier because of it. One even called me three days later, just after she'd picked up her very own jar! It was a proud moment for me. Really, it was.

I've never really had Nutella. Or if I have I wasn't really aware that that was what I was having. You can still love me thoug, right? I mean considering I have this serious lack of Nutella knowledge flaw?

Oh wait. You HAVE to love me. I'm FAMILY! YAY!
