a perfect moment

I was recently asked if I remembered a "perfect moment" in my life where all the stars aligned and I felt right with the world.  My mind raced to of course--my marriage, having each of my children, buying our first house, even all the way back to my childhood when Billy Lewis confessed his undying love for me in front of all his friends--

But then my mind rested on a moment that honestly, I am not sure if any others can top.

I remember laying in bed really early in the morning hearing both Kai and Brianna waking up.  I knew that in just a second they would both barrel into my room asking for breakfast and that I would somehow pull myself out of bed and begin my day...exhausted...as usual.

And then I suddenly realized that my children had grown a bit and that Brianna was perfectly capable of pouring herself a bowl of cereal.  Then I realized that Kai was perfectly capable of eating a bowl of cereal. And so the moment in all it's glory happened...

Once the children came skipping into the room with their needs, I half-sleepily said, "Brianna...could you get your brother some breakfast and let me sleep a few more minutes?" (yawn)

She said, "Sure, Mom!" and went to work.

Perfect moment, indeed.

we're still in the "they go downstairs and eat cereal straight out of the box while watching tv and making a big mess if I don't wake up" stage! :)

Deinitely a perfect moment. My daughter would do it herself I'm sure, no problem, but the baby... that might get a bit messy lol.

I loved that moment too! Though most mornings I still get up with my children. I love seeing them before they go to school.

I think you're right. Pretty sure that day will also rank up there with the best days of my life.
